DRIVE SAFE AVOID ACCIDENTS

Now a large number of road accidents are being reported daily in the newspapers and on social media. Many people lose their lives and many more get injured in these road accidents. The number of road accidents has increased due to an increase in the number of vehicles on the roads.

When you’re driving a vehicle, keep 100% of your attention on driving and no multi-tasking. Never use mobile phones while driving. We should not stop the vehicle by applying brakes abruptly unless it is necessary to do so. Using helmets on two-wheelers is one of the easiest ways of preventing accidents.

Safe driving means obeying the speed limit and traffic laws, maintaining plenty of space between you and the car in front, driving slower during rain and inclement weather, etc. We should adjust our seats and mirrors before putting the car in gear. We should take breaks and get refreshed at intervals while driving for long-distance.

Don’t do practice driving on the highways. Do not drive if you are stressed or unwell as it will affect your judgment while driving. If any other vehicle is showing signs of aggressive driving, we should slow down or pull over to avoid it. We should also keep an eye on bicyclists, pedestrians, and pets along the road.

Safe driving also includes off-road precautionary measures such as making sure that tyres, brakes, and wipers are in good condition. All of these actions can decrease the chances of an accident. Defensive driving might seem dull, but safe driving not only saves lives but also saves money in the form of increased fuel efficiency.

Underage children should not be allowed to drive. Studies show that crashes are higher among teens than in any other age group. Parents need to be good role models and they should communicate with their teens to help improve their driving.

There are many methods of creating awareness about safe driving among the common public such as seminars, workshops, students education by adding basic road-safety lessons to the syllabus and make people understand traffic lights, and road signs, etc.

Higher Speed does not increase the ability to arrive on time; rather it only increases the chances of not arriving at all. Drive safe and avoid accidents.
