EARTH

Earth is our home planet. Earth is the 3rd closest planet to the sun. The distance between the Sun and the earth is approximately 93 million miles. Sun’s light reaches earth in about eight minutes. Pictures from space show that Earth is round like the moon.

Viewed from space, Earth would appear bright and bluish. Earth makes one complete orbit of the Sun in about 365.25 days.

Scientists estimate that the Earth was formed about 4.54 billion years ago. It is the only planet in the Solar System that is known to have large amounts of liquid water. Earth is home to lacs of species of animals and plants which require water to survive.

Over 70% of the earth is covered by seas full of salty water. Only a very small amount of water that is in rivers and under the earth is available to people for drinking and other uses. Further much of the land on earth is covered with plants.

About eight billion people live on earth. They live in about 200 different countries. Earth has a suitable temperature, gases, and environment for the existence of life. Earth is a unique planet in the solar system that is known to have life on it. Earth has given us many gifts like soil, air, and water. The earth gives us food. Many plants, crops, vegetables, fruits, etc. grow on the earth. If we were to imagine our lives without earth, that would not be possible.

We do not have any other planet on which we can move on. It is the responsibility of human beings to keep the earth safe, clean, and natural because human beings and all other living organisms depend on the earth for their survival.
