President Droupadi Murmu approved 78 gallantry awards, including 13 posthumous honours, on the eve of India’s 80th Independence Day. The awards recognised acts of exceptional courage and devotion to duty by personnel of the Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces.

The 78 awards included 9 Kirti Chakras, 19 Shaurya Chakras, 36 Sena Medals (Gallantry), 3 Nao Sena Medals (Gallantry), 5 Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry), 5 Bars to Sena Medal (Gallantry), and 1 Bar to Shaurya Chakra.

The President also approved 89 Mention-in-Despatches for personnel of the Army, Navy and Air Force.
