China is considering holding a high-level summit between Chinese President Xi Jinping and South Korean President Lee Jae-myung on the sidelines of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Shenzhen in November 2026. China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Beijing was “actively considering” the meeting.
The proposed summit comes as Beijing and Seoul seek to strengthen bilateral relations, including cooperation in trade, investment, supply-chain stability and cultural exchanges. South Korea is also seeking China’s constructive role in encouraging dialogue on the Korean Peninsula.
